Muintearas, An Togra Oideachas Gaeltachta

Is eagraíocht oideachais agus oiliúna pobail é Muintearas. Tá ceanncheathrú na heagraíochta lonnaithe i dTír an Fhia, Leitir Móir, Co na Gaillimhe; agus tá fo-oifigí againn i nGaeltachtaí Dhún na nGall, Mhaigh Eo agus Chiarraí.

Cuirtear oideachas ar fáil do gach aois-ghrúpa sa phobal, ó réimse na réamhscolaíochta go dtí oideachas fadsaoil do dhaoine fásta. Tá Muintearas ag obair i ngach gné de chúrsaí oideachais, oiliúna agus seirbhísí do phobal na Gaeltachta. Tá aithne agus eolas ar Mhuintearas ag eagraíochtaí agus Ranna Stáit ó bheith ag déileáil leis an eagraíocht i gcaitheamh na mblianta.Tá taithí na mblianta againn ar shealbhú agus buanú teanga sa nGaeltacht.

Tá eolas agus aithne ag Muintearas ar gach aon phobal Gaeltachta, ní amháin i gConamara, ach i gceantair Ghaeltachta eile ó a bheith ag obair leo chun dul i ngleic le mí-bhuntáiste, agus chun cothrom na Féinne a bhaint amach dóibh. Tá clár-oibre Mhuintearais dírithe ar na réimsí seo a leanas:

• luathfhorbairt an linbh;

• oideachas bunscoile;

• forbairt ábhair foghlama;

• cláracha don óige;

• tograí tacaíochta teanga;

• nuatheicneolaíocht chumarsáideach;

• cláracha oiliúna;

• taighde.

Muintearas is both a visionary and a pro-active project. Our headquarters are in Tír an Fhia, Leitir Móir, Co. Galway (Ireland), but we are engaged in activities in all the Gaeltachtaí (Irish speaking areas) and beyond.

The aims of the Muintearas project can be described in many different ways, but all of them are focused on people: - to achieve equal opportunities in terms of education and employment for people in the Gaeltacht; to provide personal development opportunities for men and women; to improve the quality of life for those who experience disadvantage; to facilitate full participation of parents in the education of their children; to support the use of the Irish language in all aspects of community life in the Gaeltacht, on the basis of justice and basic rights; to raise awareness in state agencies etc. for the special needs of the Gaeltacht; and to generally function as a facilitator for the Gaeltacht community, to help them to reach their full potential in economic, social, cultural and linguistic terms. These are ambitious aims, but Muintearas goes about them with a clear working programme, dedicated staff and good community relations.
