Muintearas is an organisation concerned with every aspect of education and community development in the Irish Gaeltacht.
Muintearas is both a visionary and a pro-active project. Our headquarters are in Tír an Fhia, Leitir Móir, Co. Galway (Ireland), but we are engaged in activities in all the Gaeltachtaí (Irish speaking areas) and beyond. The aims of the Muintearas project can be described in many different ways, but all of them are focused on people: - to achieve equal opportunities in terms of education and employment for people in the Gaeltacht; to provide personal development opportunities for men and women; to improve the quality of life for those who experience disadvantage; to facilitate full participation of parents in the education of their children; to support the use of the Irish language in all aspects of community life in the Gaeltacht, on the basis of justice and basic rights; to raise awareness in state agencies etc. for the special needs of the Gaeltacht; and to generally function as a facilitator for the Gaeltacht community, to help them to reach their full potential in economic, social, cultural and linguistic terms. Youth Programmes
Muintearas is providing a broad range of youth services, including courses, summer camps and leisure activities.
Schools
Muintearas facilitates Gaeltacht schools as well as other schools around the country. We provide special courses for children, up-skilling and in-service training for teachers, dyslexia classes etc. more... »

Childcare
Muintearas operates the community childcare facility Naíolann na nOileán in Tír an Fhia. The creche is open Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 6.00pm.
An Chlúid (Community Restaurant)
An Chlúid is a community restaurant located in the Muintearas centre in Tír an Fhia. It offers a great choice of hot and cold meals, Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 2.30pm.
